Become a Friend of Brown’s Piece

Background

Brown’s Piece was purchased for £190,000 thanks to the fantastic response to our pledge campaign and a very generous interest-free loan from a local benefactor. Around £105,000 was raised through pledges, leaving £85,000 to be repaid over the 10-year loan period.

We have also secured around £22,000 in grant funding from charities and local councils, which is already supporting the footpath improvements, tree safety work, knotweed removal and other site improvements. We expect that future projects and maintenance will largely be funded through grants.

However, grants rarely cover land purchase, so we need to raise the remaining £85,000 ourselves. To help achieve this, we are launching Friends of Brown’s Piece.

How it works

There is no fixed membership fee — every contribution helps. For example, if half of our members and pledgees gave £5 per month, we would be on track to repay the loan within the loan period. The best way of helping is to set up a monthly standing order. 

No matter how big or small this is it will make a huge difference to our work.  We will keep you up to date on progress with frequent updates and a regular newsletter.
