WCLT’s objective, as a voluntary group based in Wotton-under-Edge, is to work for community ownership and sustainable management of local natural assets to support a thriving natural world and local community.

Our vision is an ecologically healthy and sustainable town and surrounding area, where everyone who lives, works or visits here feels connected to the natural world as part of the local community.

Our first initiative was to buy land at Brown’s Piece which we now care for to sustain the benefits of this green oasis in the heart of Wotton, to encourage the connection between Wotton residents and nature, and to protect it as a green corridor along the stream between Wotton and Kingswood.

We have created WCLT Ltd to own the land we purchase. Anyone who lives in Wotton or the surrounding area or who has strong local links may become a shareholder for a £1 fee. Shareholders do not make money from their shares. The return you get is in being part of a local democratic process that gives the community control of how their land is managed.
